Animal Instincts

Fur Gilet Zara / Duster - Primark / Skirt - Oasis / Jumper - H&M

Outfits may look a little over-the-top and totally intimidating during fashion week, but actually some of my street style favourites have been super simple - jeans, jackets, boots. February mirrored New York on the weather front with a flurry of snow fall early last week, but that’s not to say you have to be miserably freezing to fit in with the fashion pack! The go-to?! A statement coat.

This seasons embraces our animal instincts as everyone reaches out for their biggest coat. The puffier or furrier* the better, and I have made no exceptions. Last weekend I opted for this fab fur gilet to top my duster which you may have seen me sporting back in summer, along with this gorgeous Oasis skirt (who said clothes can’t be versatile.) Teamed with boots and a jumper …and a million other hidden layers, this makes the perfect go-to outfit.

Denim Delight

Flash of denim coming through ...and this time it's a double dose. You will have noticed that I recently wore these jeans here, and honestly I cannot get enough! There's something so appealing about a blank canvas, and that's exactly where I started. White jeans (your favourite denims in reach will do, no matter the colour) paired with a white cami creates the perfect base for any outfit. London's getting awfully warm (no complaints, keep it coming...) but still not quite hot enough to leave home without an jacket, so throw on a shirt and your ready to roll! This is such an easy look and I love the contrast in doubled denim shades.

WARNING: Wearing white also means you risk spending the rest of your day finding a clean place to perch, or spot cleaning the gelato you've carelessly managed to drip straight down your front.

F I G H T o r F L I G H T

It’s the brains natural response to threatening situations. When we perceive our body to be under attack the brain stimulates nerve endings and sends chemicals whizzing round your blood to trigger a reaction; Fight or Flight.

Much like the immediate response that makes me want to send my phone flying across the room every morning when the alarm screeches at crazy o’clock ....only I think on the whole, mine may be malfunctioning because my response to everything is flight!

...When am I booking the next one
Actually it happens to be now. A weekend adventure! I’ve been lucky enough to explore the edges of the earth and experience cultures, foods, traditions and families like no other. Its therefore understandable that my answer to happiness is simply a quick escape. Nothing quite compares to exploring unknown foreign lands....

With the sunshine slowly appearing here in London, this calls of course for a myriad of outdoor activities, all of which I could have done anyway but....just would have been a lot colder and a lot wetter! This way I have an excuse to up the caffeine and the ice cream intake two fold (gelato if I can get my hands on it ;))

You will now find me dashing around London without the multitude of layers I've been hibernating underneath and instead sporting the fab new navy parka.

Sunshine being so scarce here in London I see no problem in brings the summer toward to suit... out come the whites, pastels and floaty florals.

We were so lucky to have such fabulous weather the other weekend, there's no photo filter nearly as flattering as a little sunshine. There's also no better way to celebrate the fabulous weather other than with a similarly fabulous outfit.

Currently looking like I jump from one extreme, in all black, to the complete opposite, in all white. Bright whites always make brilliantly beautiful outfits no matter what the season, and I have understandably fallen in love with this one.

An easily achieved flattering and free look I'm sure you'll all agree?! I was going for casually impressive but still super comfy for an all day catch up over Alice in wonderland tea and cake, followed by dinner with the ladies. (Although white is probably not the best idea when cooking is involved!)

I had such a fun time.

January's Footsteps

Shoe's seem to be the bane of my life.

I have narrow, average-sized feet, with small heels and skinny ankles, aka a shoe shopping nightmare. Teamed with the fact that I am uber picky, finding shoes I like that actually fit is virtually impossible. All of my heels are hiding heel-grips to stop them slipping off, flats tend to be too wide, and well don't get me started on getting tall boots to fit my calves...

Hay ho, it's just one of those things and I know I'm not the only one suffering. On the up side, I have found two pairs of fabulous footwear that I am absolutely in love with....and they fit!!! YAY!

SLIP ONS //

So I'm a bit slow off the mark. Bit I got there. I found some.

Slip ons have been all the rage this autumn/winter. They are everywhere, and why not. Comfortable and stylish all in one, who wouldn't?! My white pony hair slip ons are a dream.

My hunt started a while back, but I couldn't quite find what I was looking for. Those that I did love like Celine, were out of price range, or like Steve Madden's leopard print version, just didn't fit. Zara's shoes are not always the best fit on my so I was happily surprised.

BOOTS //

The time had come to replace last years battered boots with these luxe leather track sole booties, again from Zara. Prefect for wintry weather and as far as aesthetics, these booties certainly look the part. Although they look high for everyday, they are super comfortable.

I was sold on these from the first time I opened the box, (yes there is a but coming)...BUT one thing I find a little irritating is that the leather gets a little excess creasing and wear because you have to slip your feet in and out. Nothing a little leather softener and protector won't fit, but that's just me.
