With New York Fashion Week in fullswing and London Fashion Week fast approaching I thought I might share some of my favourite collections that have been shown over the past week, needless to say this only builds my excitement for what is yet to come.....

Proenza Schouler has wowed with statement couture cuts, intricate jacquard weaves and multilayering prints. Whilst giving structure and patch-worked fabrics a fresh spin, they have stayed very feminie with round shoulders and sinched in waists to ensure they collection remain ladylike regardless of the tough fabrics.

A few years ago no one could take her seriously, but now Victoria Beckham's AW14 collection is one of most hotly aniticipated, and appeared to be a show stealer.

Monochrome seemed to be the main focus...a bold contract to her vibrant collection of SS14. It was kept very clean and tailored, a characteristic that has run through her entire history of collections, occationally adding flashes of red to contrast the black and white.

Helmut Lang, which is usually pattern heavy, seems to have recieved a white wash for AW14, featuring oversized shapes and statement abstract cuts. Cool and clean, models wore ponytails slicked back by 90s comb headbands. All in all the collection is a compelling one and Helmut Lang has once again capitalised on minimal elegance, as he launches into AW14 with an edgy stance.

Marc By Marc Jacobs is definately one for the kids, and the cool kids at that.

The AW14 collection is inspired by Japanese school uniforms, motocross, karate attire and tutus, meaning its latest has brought another wave of punk to the New York city catwalk.

Shiny metalics and vibrant brights were branded with political statements, styled up with 90s moon boots, long socks and pigtails.

Also scattered amongst the collection were baggy knits, over-sized layered skirts and school style blazers.

This mix of mod cuts, colours, slogans, futuristic fabrics and tricky layering could only mean one thing; street style and high fashion have collided.

From what I've seen I suspect that AW14 is about the become the wardrobe for fearless modern women worldwide.
