A Piece in Time

January seems to have sped by faster than a monkey in a moon rocket!

We've been back a month already and I'm still trying to adjust to the new daily routine I have set out. No one said change was easy, but things may have to be postponed for a few months while I hibernate a little longer in the mornings, along with the sun. One of biggest annoyances during the winter is the dark mornings and early nights. I yearn to be out in the day, but instead I'm left frowning at my dual screen trying to not drive myself insane… which if you know me, is easier said than done!
Nevertheless my head is full of fantabulous (yes this is a word …now!) and flamboyant ideas for the year ahead. One of which involves a trip of a life time… I just have to make them happen!

Everybody excited? Me too!

With the days already speeding by as they have, I’m lucky to have my trusty time piece to rely on. I’ve never been much of a watch person. With tiny wrists its a mission to find one that suits. When I do the practicality is undeniable. Time piece forgotten, I’m still left checking my empty wrist throughout the day.

Cold Turkey

It’s 3pm and I'm making a B line for a sugar loaded snack. I’ve tried satisfying cravings with a handful of fresh berries and the last chocolate-covered digestives in the back of my desk drawer (Oh wait I already ate those), but I’m still struggling not to run down for an Oreo ice cream shake. I fantasise about the sugar hitting my bloodstream.
Ok Slight exaggeration!! Instead, I start brainstorming possible alternatives: A pinch of coconut flakes. A spoonful of raspberry jam. A swig of maple syrup...*

We all know about the negative effects of sugar, but research has shown that you can actually get hooked on the sweet stuff!** Scientists have found that sugar is addictive,  stimulating the same pleasure centers as hard-core drugs! Its for that reason that I've pledged to go Cold Turkey… or cut down at least. I mean whats life without a cronut on the weekends!

Anyone else got the same sugar related issues? or just me??

* Not Joking! I've done this!

Non-Negotiable

Outerwear is quickly becoming a non-negotiable essential when it comes to winter weather layering. I’ve taken this plunge this year and bought my first non-black coat. Although our choice in colours often follow seasons, I thought would take a leap of faith and go for something different. Now this beauty is the first thing I throw over my shoulders on go to dress up, or down, any look….and it still keeps me cosy (especially with London being thrown into the deep freeze every other day)

I see all outerwear as key pieces. They seem to get buried into the deepest darkest depths of our wardrobes, resurfacing nearly every year come the colder months so its best to invest in something that will last. Better still when your key pieces go together.
The super soft knitted scarf pictured above clearly made a perfect Christmas gift …even if my sister does steal it back at least once a week!
Luckily, on this occasion, I got there first :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

After a full on 12 months packed with opportunities and challenges alike (and a whole lot of outfits *found here*). I am more than ready to embrace what the new year has in store.
Unlike most years, where the start feels like a new beginning, a fresh leaf... this feels very different. An exhilarating extension of the decisions and endeavours committed through the choices made last year. I have a good feeling about this one
