London's Beating Heart

London ever the busy city, with so many interesting events constantly cropping up, you soon begin to master the art of prioritising pretty quickly, especially with the ever emerging art exhibitions, pop ups and cafe's (If not you will soon learn what FOMO is all about)!

Last weekend I went to see Charles Pétillon's art installation 'Heartbeat', in Covent Garden. It is made up of 100,000 white balloons. Pretty Impressive...I wonder if he blew them up himself??

The 100,000 balloons represent "the Market Building as the beating heart of this area. Each balloon has its own dimensions and yet is part of a giant but fragile composition that creates a floating cloud above the energy of the market below." White light can be seen gently pulsating inside the balloons, mimicking a heartbeat.

“The balloon invasions I create are metaphors. Their goal is to change the way in which we see the things we live alongside each day without really noticing them."

It's coming down today guys so pop down if you still can...
...if not you can at least admire the photo's ;)

LFW Palmer//Harding SS16

Palmer//Harding have structure their minimalist brand through the deconstruction of the shirt as their blank canvas. Their SS16 collection is inspired by contemporary artist Nathan Peter’s work of dissection and distillation. Like a reflection of the artist himself they isolate and explore the varied elements of each garment and fabric to create a synthesis of fabric manipulations with cottons, linens and leathers, foiled, stripped and threaded.

Garments were constructed and distilled through de-threading, creating a kinetic energy that runs throughout the collection. Fabrics originally joint and designed to traditionally keep shape, swing down the runway exposing the yarns that make it. Again this is a true reflection of the inspiration, celebrating the anti-digital and restoring a sense of intimacy in seeing the true textural surfaces.

Introducing elements of brass accessories, oversized hooped earrings and neck bangles as well as rings cinching the waist or the wrists added a refined artisanal touch against the tailored drapery. Dissected fabric surfaces were subtly embellished with Swarovski sparkle and shirts of course clipped with the ever elegant Sheaffer Pen.

Palmer//Harding’s Shirt Series presentation really nailed the look, and I can only anticipate what they come up with next.

In the mean time I guess I'm just to add one of their white's to the wardrobe ;)

Fashion Calendar Countdown

- Blog Favourites from Fashion Week's Past -

Time to revisit your Instagram feed and get your best outfits dry-cleaned before the immaculately dressed mayhem, that this London Fashion Week, depends upon our city.
LFW’s is fast approaching, and the final countdown has begun, but its bye bye cobbles, hello multi-storey concrete.

Yep you heard me!

After 6 years at Somerset House, the British Fashion Council has decided to up and move the Official Event Space to the Brewer Street Car Park in Soho! Love It! …some designers not so much, and have opted for venue spaces weird and wonderful all around London. Meanwhile, if your without an invitation, you may not get to see the exhibition its self but not to fret as you will definitely be treated to the best fashion can offer in the parades of flamboyantly dressed bloggers, stylists and the odd celebrity.

If your not one of fashion’s movers and shakers it notoriously hard to get into the private shows, but lucky for you theres a fair few going’s on away from the official programme. Here's my top 5 to keep you busy...

If its the a bit of brushing shoulders with celebs that you are after then the top shows to stalk have to be Topshop Unique and Burberry.

Good Luck Chicks,
Tan xx
