Insta Lately

INSTAGRAM // @tanushrid

Since I haven't done one of these in a while, I thought it might be fun for those of you who are not on instagram to catch up with what I've been up to over the past few weeks in photos.
Also isn't London just gorgeous...

It's been a stressful one what with the fabulous goings on of Fashion week, starting a new job and the last of re-decorating the HQ, but once I get into a comfortable new routine I will hopefully have lots of fun and interesting things to share with you all, until then I apologise for the sparse nature of the blog and promise to get sorted ;)

Bare with me...
Enjoy your Weekend

Sunday Polish - Quick Swipe

Essie - Ballet Slippers
Barry M - Black

I've been a busy bee this week, what with fashion week in full swing, preparing for a new job and big birthday celebrations, fast and fabulous nails were a must. No excuses!

Clean, minimalist and versatile is what I was aiming for, and this works perfectly. Essie Ballet Slippers although a beautiful shade applies slightly streaky and will need around three thin, even coats for optimum coverage. Finished with a swipe of Black polish over the tips and a coat of Seche Vite, then your ready to run.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday,

Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Pencil Review

Wanting lip smacking-ly, gorgeous lips for London Fashion Week kicking off tomorrow.
I have just the thing...
Maybelline's Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencils are so beyond amazing.
You ma have noticed these popping up in my make-up look posts or on Instagram (@tanushrid). I discovered these whilst shopping just before christmas. I initially wanted to try 1, I have no idea how 3 fell into my basket... They take on many of the qualities of the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils. Dupe!? Bloody Brilliant if you ask me!

Scrub //
Loving all things lush. A lip scrub is a necessity for every woman's bathroom cabinet. You can always make your own, but its practical as well as delicious. I really rely on this to buff away any dead skin, especially during the winter when my lips get a little dehydrated.
Apply a little to your lips and massage in circular motions, and your good to go with a super soft pout.

Maybelline Colour Drama Pencils //
Beautifully packaged in a chic black barrel with colour block ends and priced at £4.99, a whole £12 cheaper than Nars, could you get any better?! With a smooth texture and ultra creamy consistency, they last all day and pack some serious punch in colour intensity and pigmentation. All the makings for a firm beauty favourite.
Great colour range. I went with slightly darker shades to complement my skin tone, a clear favourite being Berry Much which I'm wearing above, a warm plum. Its so flattering and has become a daily handbag staple. Not completely matte but I quite like that, the balance is enough to stop any drying. You can always blot with tissue to remove any unwanted shine.
With all day lasting power, I find I only need to reapply about once or twice a day.
I must say that I didn't expect to like these as much as I do, but they are pretty impressive and super affordable. What do you guys think of these pencils?

Kisses,

Tan xx

Sunday Polish - Wearing My Hear on My Nails

Essie - Need A Vacation
Essie - Blanc

Hope you had an amazing Valentines Day. I'm going pretty in pink. Cute, girly favourite in time to share the love with you all...

Such a gorgeous shade of pink! Need a Vacation, along with Flawless are my two favourite pastel pinks from Essie.
Not to worry about getting the perfect heart, it is much easier than you think.
Dot two small drops of polish on your nail side by side leaving a small gap in-between. This is create the two rounded tops of the heart. Next using a toothpick, softly drag the excess down from each drop of polish so they meet in the small gap that you left to create the point. From the outside corners drag down diagonally to make  the bottom point and fill any empty spaces with a little more white polish.

All done & ready for the week ahead!

HAPPY SUNDAY,

Be Mine

Jumper - H&M
Dress - River Island
Loafers - Zara

Now, you know me, any excuse to get the legs out! Up coming Valentines day happens to be a great one. Time to celebrate the month of Love, whether it be with that special someone or just some great friends, there’s nothing quite like it. Well that, and the creates of roses and boxes of choccies if anyone was wondering ;)

I adore the all white look that was carried though winter. This is a playfully innocent look that is sure to get you some attention. London’s still a little chilly so, I’ve layered a fluffy jumper on top of a simple A-line dress to create this outfit. Paired perfectly with my new pony loafers from Zara to complete the look.

All I need now is to find out all of your Valentine’s Day plans. Comment Below….
So I’m a curious old thing, do you blame me?!

Hugs & Kisses,

Sunday Polish - Pucker Up

Rimmel - Soul Session
Essie - Tomboy No More
Essie - Thigh High

Now my nails can give you kisses too ;D

It's nearly valentines day! Doing something fun or romantic with someone you love? Getting glam is half the fun, so don't forget your nails ;)

Subtly flirtatious, this one was so fun to do, and even more fun when I got to show people.
Essie Thigh High, a shimmery polish, is a slightly duller shade than I wanted, so a thin coat of Essie Tomboy No More over the top soon fixed this. Gives a bright and bold finish, wouldn't you agree?
To get the 'Kiss', start with a nude base on the thumb and ring finger. I have used Rimmel's Soul Session, a clear favourite at the moment.
Swipe the red polish across the very tip of your thumb to create a small semi-circle like curve for the bottom lip.
For the top lip, use the flat edge of the nail polish brush to create a two small triangular points on the edge of the nail. Connect them and voila!
If you find this difficult with the nail varnish brush, you could always use a fine paint brush.

Quick Fix

Leather Jacket - Warehouse
Grey Tee - Forever 21
Skirt - Topshop
Scarf - New Look
White Converse

My coffee date quota seemed to have reached it's peak in January.
Catching up with friends I missed over the holidays consumed most of my time, and I had absolutely no complaints. It just so happens that London's many independent cafe's provides the perfect setting, of course it has nothing to do with indulging in coffee and cake ;)

Whilst studying at Central Saint Martins, I met a bunch of absolutely crazy ladies, and almost a year on I can not imagine where my life would be without them. This lovely lot brighten up the worst of days and make those seemingly ordinary moments completely unforgettable. *Kisses*
One of those special people happen to be the beautiful Sarah Mikaela of Framboise Fashion. Aside from her many talents, Sarah is the person I must thank for showing me the true art of appreciating a great cafe....none of this Starbucks nonsense! Queen of the iced coffee's (that her drink), last weekend she introduced me to Fix 126, sat at the end of Curtain road, and captured these spectacular snaps from our Sunday together.
Cheers to one of many lingering coffee dates, always a pleasure.

Anyways, with Valentines day round the corner, I thought I would get the legs out (just for you guys mind) and share a fun, casual look still suitable for the bitterly cold breeze still blowing about London. I love that layering up keeps me cosy and still lets me pay around with skirts in this weather.

Keep Smiling,

Tan xx

Short Hair Don't Care

Feeling suddenly care-free and daring I decided it was time for a chop...and a chop I certainly got!
Those of you following my Instagram will already know this (@tanushrid).

I've not had the easiest time recently and woke up feeling like I needed a change, something to give me a new lease of life, so as you do, I called my hairdresser and booked an appointment for that very same day.
Having had long hair my entire life this was a huge decision. I've been toying around the idea of short hair for years....I am now unbelievably happy that I have finally done it! With a whole 20cm (ish) lopped off the bottom it's feeling wonderfully weightless.
Not to worry, my hair didn't go to waste, it was donated to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provide real hair wigs for children suffering with hair loss.

I can't wait to bounce around London showing off my new do.

Happy February.
It's the month of Love ;)
