Ginger & White

Coat - Forever 21
Scarf - H&M
Top - New Look
Jeans - H&M
Slip Ons - Zara
Clutch - Warehouse

Currently between jobs, I have a little more time on my hands to explore a little more of London, catching up with old (and new) friends as opposed to the usual manic rush. I have also vowed to myself to try and capture more blog moments while I'm out and about. It's always nice to share these special glimpses of London, especially when the days are as beautiful as this one and even when it means braving the bitter cold.  Bitterly cold it definitely was. I don't not recommend taking off your coat, as pictured hehe

I ventured out to Hampstead last week, with my lovely friend Rosie, I got to share this little gem of a coffee shop. Cosy, warm and inviting, filled with the hum and natter of staff and customers alike. What more could you want?! Ginger & White is definitely one to add to the list ;)

Hope you have all had an awesome week so far ;)

Sunday Polish: Golden Angles

Rimmel - Soul Session
Essie - Tie the Knot

You may recognise this look from a very similar one I did during last seasons fashion week, White Cut Out. I loved it so much I thought I would try another variation, this time using a very natural and subtle base with a golden overlay.
I absolutely adore Rimmel's Sole Session. It is so natural and leaves the perfect hue radiating from your nails, perfect it you have slightly irregular colour to your natural nails.
Subtle but pretty I think ;)

I start by painting the base the day before I intend to paint the gold on top so it does not peel as I use sellotape to create the sharp edge to the gold polish (shown in the first picture). Super simple, I hope even more so with the help of the first picture.
I left the tape on for the purpose of the picture, but be sure to peel off each piece of sellotape as you finish each nail to get a clean finish. If you leave it too long it will leave a raised edge and may peel slightly.

Happy Sunday

January's Footsteps

Shoe's seem to be the bane of my life.
I have narrow, average-sized feet, with small heels and skinny ankles, aka a shoe shopping nightmare. Teamed with the fact that I am uber picky, finding shoes I like that actually fit is virtually impossible. All of my heels are hiding heel-grips to stop them slipping off, flats tend to be too wide, and well don't get me started on getting tall boots to fit my calves...
Hay ho, it's just one of those things and I know I'm not the only one suffering. On the up side, I have found two pairs of fabulous footwear that I am absolutely in love with....and they fit!!! YAY!

SLIP ONS //
So I'm a bit slow off the mark. Bit I got there. I found some.
Slip ons have been all the rage this autumn/winter. They are everywhere, and why not. Comfortable and stylish all in one, who wouldn't?! My white pony hair slip ons are a dream.
My hunt started a while back, but I couldn't quite find what I was looking for. Those that I did love like Celine, were out of price range, or like Steve Madden's leopard print version, just didn't fit. Zara's shoes are not always the best fit on my so I was happily surprised.

BOOTS //
The time had come to replace last years battered boots with these luxe leather track sole booties, again from Zara. Prefect for wintry weather and as far as aesthetics, these booties certainly look the part. Although they look high for everyday, they are super comfortable.
I was sold on these from the first time I opened the box, (yes there is a but coming)...BUT one thing I find a little irritating is that the leather gets a little excess creasing and wear because you have to slip your feet in and out. Nothing a little leather softener and protector won't fit, but that's just me.

Sunday Polish - Tartan

 Essie - Limited Addiction
Barry M - Noir
New Look - Gold

In keeping with this winter's tartan trend, I'm experimenting with a tartan print nail...why not!?
I admit this was a little rushed, so apologies for the messy lines but I still think this turned out great. Lots of fun, and although a little more difficult that my usual Sunday polish, it's still easy enough to achieve for any nail art novices.

You will be happy to know that this week we is nail tape free! Simply paint on your base colour (red in the case) and wait to dry a little.
Using a fine paint brush or nail art brush stripe on the black lines in a #hash style across each nail. I made a slightly translucent black by mixing two drops of clear polish with black as I found the opaque black a tad harsh.
After a few minutes of drying, paint on alternate gold stripes on each nail and finish with a coat of Seche Vite (any other top coat will work just fine too) ;)

Enjoy your Weekend,

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara Review

No Masacra.

1 Coat of Maybelline The Falsies
2 Coats
3 Coats - Full Effect

Probably one of the most personal products in any beauty bag. I could sit here and rave about the amazing wonders of this mascara (which I will, in a minute), but chances are half of you will find it to be the complete opposite. This simply falls down to the fact that everyone is looking for something  different from their mascara... thickening, lengthening, strengthening, curling... the list goes on. Couple this with the endless application techniques (each to their own, I'm sure), and you've suddenly got a product that works very differently for each user. Lots to consider . . .

Personally, I love it!!!
My main ask from a mascara is to lift and lengthen, closely followed by slightly thickening and curling lashes so not to appear spidery. Not only does this tick all the boxes, but it is super affordable. Like most mascara's, this reaches its peak performance a few weeks after opening as the formula has had a chance to thicken slightly, which allows it to hold and dry in place a lot quicker ;)
Two to three coats provides perfect coverage, and although this can be a little flakey at first this soon sorts itself after the first weeks of usage when the formula thickens. The curved brush enables you to coat your lashes right from the root as well as cover every inch of lash using the flat side with slightly deeper bristles.

What do you guys look for in a mascara?
Anyone else love this one? or maybe hate it?

Love,
