Happy New Year Makeup
Full of excitement for the new year. I can hardly believe that we are at the end of 2014 already….where did those 365 days go?!
As the end of each year approaches, we inevitably begin to look back at all of the challenges life has thrown at us and the incredible milestones we’ve achieved in the process, all the time setting our sights at new goals. Time to dream big and work hard….there’s nothing to stop you!
2014 has definitely been a big one. I have learnt so much, both generally speaking and about myself. I have gained so many magnificent memories that I’ll go on to treasure for many years to come, most of which are from my months spent in Malawi.
Heading to a New Year's Eve party tomorrow, well I thought I'd help you look utterly fabulous to see the New Year off with a bang with two varied Makeup Looks ;)

Sunday Polish - New Year Cornered
Essie - Berry Hard
New Look - Gold Glitter Polish
As usual christmas has whizzed passed (hope yours was as good as mine), and we are anticipating what the new year will bring. Both good and bad alike I'm sure, but lets not forget that without one would not be the other, so we embrace whatever life may have in store for us.
For the mean time, we just need to worry about getting all dolled up ready to greet the new year with open arms as it rolls in.
Still in the festive/Christmassy mood I thought I would stick to the classic red and gold combo. This one is super simple to save the seconds during this hectic holiday.
Berry hard is one of my Essie favourites where their deeper shades of red are concerned. Rich in colour, left with a luxurious shine. This is done on day old polish to avoid damaging the base colour, in this case Berry Hard. I diagonal lined nail tape across the corners and painted over the corners…
One quick swipe with Seche Vite, and your ready to party the night away.
Love,
Tan xx

Merry Christmas All!
If you're as impatient as me on Christmas morning, I'm sure that you've already torn open all of your presents to reveal plenty of treats and full from an indulgent breakfast, but already dreaming of the mouth watering festive feast yet to follow.
Aside from the Christmas parties, It's been a quiet, cosy three-man Christmas this year for me, mum and sister. Despite feeling a little low in numbers we've not lost any of the festivities. Still getting all glammed up like we have somewhere to be, and bustling around the kitchen like we're cooking for the army that is our family.... only on a slightly smaller scale hehe. Not to worry though, we still manage to get up to plenty of mischief thought the day...
Hope you enjoy this one!

Christmas seems to bring out the infectious childish cheer within me, every single year without fail. With a huge family things are anything but running smoothly or quite, something I'm really thankful for....where's the fun in a quite Christmas! Saying that, with most of the family lounging along the beautiful shorelines of Mauritius, looks like Christmas is going to be just that, quite and cosy, leaving plenty of time to paint my nails, between the mountains of edible treats and Christmas movies of course ;)
This simple, yet subtly sparkly red snowflake nail is set to top off my steam of Christmas inspired Sunday polish nail posts. I love this one and I bet you can all guess what I'm wishing for...
Snow!!
Have a absolutely Wonderful Christmas!!!

Have you been Naughty or Nice this year?
Nice I hope, but I guess we all have to break the rules now and again ;) !!
Versatility is key when it comes to managing your wardrobe (or rail in my case). I recently underwent a wardrobe rehab in the attempt to clear out the ton of pieces I no longer use or love. As a blogger, although it is important to keep things new and fresh, I also recognise that aside from my life on #StreetAndRail, I also like in the everyday like you guys so it's important to be able to easily change up my looks, and mix and match different pieces.
Changing your look doesn't have to be complicated. I've styled this Black Topshop crop completely differently in each look, going from nice and pretty to a naughty edge.
Starting the day in this pretty skirt, subtle understate makeup and tussled curls meant this looks was easily transformed for dinner with the girls. My curls has dropped out by late afternoon so it was a centre part, berry red lips and a run of eyeliner which really made the difference... well that and the outfit change. Like I said, Simple. but which do you prefer...
Naughty or Nice??

Street & Rail Makes: Cranberry Orange Christmas Muffins
With Christmas round the corner I seem to get into a baking frenzy.
I have a mum that's forever cooking so this runs in my blood, and although we are are all ready to collapse just as Christmas day actually arrives, the thought of all the tasty treats sitting ready and waiting to be devoured is somehow enough to keep us going....
(that's if they haven't been eaten already...shhh!)
Yesterday I got the sudden urge to get my Christmas bake on, so I decided on Christmassy Cranberry Orange muffins. They actually turned out pretty good considering they were a passing thought, so well in fact that I'm planning to make these as a pre-breakfast treat, or present-opening snack on Christmas day.
Ever thought of giving a homemade treat as a Christmas gift?! Everyone loves a home baked gift.
Also I must apologise for the lack of a 'finished product' photo. These were gobbled up by the family before I got a chance. I guess you'll just have to take my word on their successful journey out of the oven and into our tummies ;)
Ingredients //
4oz Unsalted Butter
4oz Sugar
2 Eggs
4oz Self Raising Flour
1 handful Dried/Fresh Cranberries
Rind of 1 Orange
1/2 Freshly Squeezed Orange
Recipe //
Begin by creaming together your butter and sugar.
When they are fully combined slowly mix in the beaten eggs.
To this, add the rind and juice of the orange, as well as the cranberries.
Sift in the flour folding lightly until they are mixed in.
Spoon into cupcake cases and bake on Gas Mark 4 for 25 minutes, or till golden brown.
We enjoyed this with homemade spiced butter cream, which is simply butter cream with half measures of each of the ground spices.
Enjoy,
Tan xx
P.S. I apologise in advance for the old school measures, you can convert them here.

I Absolutely LOVE this look. It's the perfect, pretty, wintry Christmas nail. Don't you think?!
Sorry guys I have used nail tape again, but remember if you don't have any you can always use strips of sellotape as a substitute.
I always try any make nail art as easy as possible so you guys, or newbies can achieve it as easily as I do. This one's pips ;)
Using nail tape, or sellotape, mark off a triangle in the centre of your nails.
If you also want the random strips in the middle of the triangle, then tape two strips randomly across the triangle and paint over in gold.
Be very careful when removing the tape however do this when the polish is still wet as it will help give a clean edge.
Removing when dry becomes hard, may damage the polish and leave a raised edge.
