Dressed to Impress

Dress - Dorothy Perkins
Watch - ASOS
Converse

This is a casual version of yesterdays interview outfit an internship position with Christopher Raeburn during London Fashion Week. Along with black boots, a blazer and some red lippy, I was dresses to impress.
I was nervously awaiting the email this morning but now very happy to say you are looking at a Christopher Raeburn intern!! I'f you're lucky I may even be able to share some snaps from backstage :D

I've recently taken a sudden liking to print so when I saw this dress it was a must have! You can also never really go wrong with monochrome or geometric print at the moment.

This is one on them simple go-to outfits that I turns to in desperate situations, for me is easy, comfortable and looks great when you just can't be bothered. Last wednesday I teamed this with wardrobe staple, converse, to get me through a very busy day running around with kids, shopping and last minute errands!

Till next time Chicka's

Sunday Polish - Flawless

Essie - Flawless

Pretty in pink this week with Essie - Flawless. Not a colour I usually go for, a lot lighter and pastal-ly (if thats a word!)!
Love this colour, bit brighter and happy, and well more fun for duller weather.
Why not try going for something you don't usually?...You never know, you might just love it!

Enjoy

Printastic Monochrome - Mary Katrantzou AW13

Photos courtsey of Elle

Mary Katrantzou is one of my favourite designers and she stunned everyone last season, going in a completely different direction from the bright, bold, colourful prints and flattering silhouettes that she is most known for.

She took on the challenge of shape and for with a more reserved palette, usuing darker hues of purples and blues, infused with greys and white. All of the dresses framed beautiful black and white photography brought to life (for the first time) with drapes of fabric and big overlapping folds, using a printing, bonding, embossing, laminates and more to manipulate the fabrics into that of the scenery they are trying to portray.

Mary Katrantzou managed to create beautifully though provoking pieces, showing off as the digital print master and amazing colourist that she is, in a way she hadn't yet attempted before. She pushes herself both in skill and imagination...and it worked so brilliantly!

With London Fashion Week fast approaching I'm excited to see what she comes out with next!

P.S Did I mention that I managed to secure a placement, working backstage at London Fashion Week and hopefully going to secure an intership. The interview is next week...wish me luck!

DIY Bracelet

This week has been a hectic one and I have yet another to follow, so sorry for the lack of fashion posts, but today I have a treat for you...it's a DIY Bracelet.
Who said fashion has to be expensive! Personally I prefer personalised pieces and DIY creations, not only because it's unique and you can have things exactly the way you like them, but because they allow you to incorporate a 'you' into them...a bit of personality!

Simply tie a knot about 8cm into 3 long strands of string, I used embroidery thread and these come in heaps of colours so dont be afraid to mix it up a bit.
Plait together the strands then a 1/4 of the way down start to thread the nuts onto the strands of thread before bringing them over to plait together.
Continue for 2/4 of the way down finishing the last 1/4 with a tightly plaited section to hold in place then secure with another knot.

This bracelet is quick and easy, but most of all inexpensive which I'm sure we all like to hear. Why not try something different like mixing up gold and silver, replacing nuts with washers or making it into a great statment piece using oversized rope with giant nuts or washers.

Have Fun.

Sunday Polish - Twist On a Classic

Essie - Berry Hard

It's been a busy one, so I wanted something simple this week, but didn't feel like a classic one colour polish, I get border of nail varnish very quickly so I've added a small curve of gold polish at the base for an interesting twist.
Give it a go with some different colours, and it will look complete any summer look!

Fashion Fringe

Converse
Shirt - Primark
Fringe Skirt - H&M
Bag - Vinatge

Days off work have been a rare occurance this summer so I snapped up the opportunity to venture into the city this Wednesday with a list of galleries to visit, dragging my sister along with me!
Best on the list was Nick Gentry's face made from Floppy Disks (which you can see on in Instagram @tanushrid ), and Mr. Brainwash's work at The Opera Gallery on New Bond St, the collection of prints and drawings in The British Museum's - Arcimboldo to Kitja exhibition, and the Paper installation at the Saatchi Gallery. We also decided to take a detour to The Shard while at the Tate which is Amazing, if you haven't seen it yet....What are you waiting for?!

Anyway, so it was the perfect excuse to pull out my new fringe skirt which I've been dying to wear, dressed down with an oversized white shirt for something light, confortable and casual, perfect for a long day! :)

Go Wide

Top - H&M
Trousers - River Island
Sandals - Dune
Lipstick - Mac Ruby Woo

Dare to Flare?
Who knew wide leg trousers would be so comfortable, and well...look so great! I have always wanted a pair but never quite sure whether they were really me, then I saw these and though..."What the hell, Just buy them!!" and I am so glad I did, because these have now a wardrobe staple. Not only are they suitable for every season - cool enough for spring and summer with a simple tee or cotton vest, teamed with a shorter style blazer or chunky knit for London's icy cold winter's - but for also every occasion from an office meeting to a night out. Whether it's in a bold black or a pretty print, the wide leg trouser is a great piece for everyone's wardrobe. Not only do they add length and leanness to any sillhouette but they also look effortlessly chic.

I wore this last saturday to a family BBQ with a pair of comfortable wedged sandals. We are quite a big family and a small get-together always seems to turn into a big event not to be missed...so this was perfect, smart enough for such an occasion but it also meant I could run around and play with the kids without worrying about exposing my underwear in a skirt or tripping over the hem of a floaty maxi. These are my new found love, so I hope you love them too.

Anyone else love the wide leg pant as much as me?  I love too see them...leave a comment below :)

Keep Smiling.

Just Fab

Darwin

Cartagena

I have been waiting all week for these shoes to arrive so I can do a post and they have finally come so here goes....

I recently discovered online fashion shoe retailer Just Fab....and well it's Just Fab!
There are plenty of shoes to choose from and all different heights and styles so even if you're really fussy, I'm sure you will find something.

I ordered the Cartagena and Darwin shoes and love them both!

The Darwin has a easy and convenient Velcro fastening which means no more faffing around with buckles. At first I wasn't sure that it would be strong enough to hold, or if it might look a bit tacky but it's perfect. I also love the high back section, I have quite small ankles so unlike the rest of my shoes that tend to slip after a while, these provide the extra grip needed to hold my foot inside the shoe.

I must admit, at first I wasn't too sure about the Cartagena, but they have grown on me and are quite unusual so I doubt you'll find anyone else in these....Sometimes it's nice to be a bit different!! I also quite like how the yellow contrasts with the black, this season is all about that pop of colour.

Both are surprisingly comfortable for heels, thanks to the soft and slightly cushioned inner sole, however the fit on both the shoes is slightly off which means I have to return them which is irritating but I guess that's one of the down falls of ordering online...you never really know what you're going to get. Don't worry though, because they deliveries and returns are free.

To purchase from Just Fab you are required to make an account, I decided to make a VIP Members account which means that any pair of shoes I purchase will be £35 or Less, which is amazing, but you have to remember to log in to your account each month and hit the "Skip This Month" button if you do not wish to make a purchase otherwise your account will be automatically charged £35, however don't worry too much if you do forget because this charge will turn into 1JustFab credit which can be redeemed on any item in the future.

Why not have a look for yourself here... http://www.justfab.co.uk/invite/streetandrail1/

Take care Chickas.
